COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DISHWASHING MACHINE, HOUSEHOLD (ELECTRIC)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial
item description.
This commercial item description covers an electric
household dishwashing machine with pump drain, commercially produced, for use
in a domestic kitchen for permanently connected undercounter installation
without power cord.
Salient characteristics:
1. Standard product. The dishwashing machine provided under this purchase
description shall be in accordance with ANSI/AHAM Standard DW-1.
2. Safety. The dishwasher shall be in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories
Inc. (UL) Standard 749. Acceptable evidence of meeting the requirements of this
standard shall be the UL label or listing mark, or a certified test report from
a recognized testing laboratory acceptable to the Government, indicating that
the dishwasher has been tested to the applicable requirements of UL 749.
3. Components. The dishwasher shall be designed for undercounter installation
with a counter-balanced pull-down door, slide out racks, tub, spraying system,
detergent dispenser, motors, and switches (including an energy saving switch).
3.1 Racks. The racks for dishes and silverware shall be made of plastic,
plastic-coated, or rubber-coated steel wire in accordance with commercial
practice. A removable silverware basket is acceptable.
3.2 Materials.
3.2.1 Tub. The tub shall be made of commercial grade steel not less than 20
gauge with a porcelain enamel or bonded plastic on steel finish or of a
polypropylene material. The polypropylene material shall meet the endurance
requirements of UL.
