COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

DISPENSER, BUTTER, SELF-CONTAINED, EUTECTIC

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-D-43953, which is cancelled.

1. CLASSIFICATION

1.1 Classification. This commercial item description covers a self-contained eutectic butter dispenser.

1.2 Part identification number (PIN). A document based PIN to identify this item is included in section 5.

2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

2.1 Description. The butter dispenser shall consist of a stainless steel cabinet, tempered glass or acrylic front panel, one stainless steel encased eutectic cooling unit plus one spare stainless steel encased eutectic cooling unit. Maximum overall dimensions of the cabinet shall not exceed 13 inches wide by 12 inches deep by 15 inches high. The cabinet shall be provided with a solid bottom or tray beneath the butter dispenser. The dispenser shall be sized to accommodate a minimum of four prepacked trays of butter pats on chips or chutes. Minimum capacity shall be 180 butter pats on 2-inch square paperboard chips. Each eutectic cooling unit shall be capable of maintaining butter temperature from 48^OF (8.8^OC) to 60^OF (15.5^OC) in an 80^OF (26.6^OC) to 90^OF (32.2^OC) ambient temperature when tested as specified in 3.2. Each butter dispenser shall be furnished with two eutectic cooling units, which shall not leak. The eutectic units shall be capable of satisfactory daily operating cycles for a period of 5 years. The butter dispenser shall conform to National Sanitation Foundation Basic Criteria C-2.
