COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SAW, HAND, MEAT CUTTING, RECIPROCATING, ELECTRIC
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Classification. This commercial item description covers two types of electric hand saws as follows (see 5.2):
Type I - 115 volts, AC, 60 hertz, single phase
Type II - 220 volts, AC, 50 hertz, single phase
1.2 Part identification number. The part identification number shall consist of the commercial item description number and the type number as follows:
AA50023 – 1
AA50023 = CID number
1 = Type
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Design and construction. The meat cutting hand saw shall have a reciprocating blade action with 6300 cutting strokes per minute, a 1-1/2 inch stroke length, an adjustable ring for overhead counterbalance attachment and a counterbalanced crank arm. The saw shall have a 16 inch horizontal straight back blade with 4 teeth per inch. The blade and blade support shall be removable. Maximum overall dimensions of the saw shall be 28 inches long, 10 inches wide and 10 inches high.
2.2 Electrical requirements. The saw shall be powered by a 115 volt AC, 60 Hz single phase or a 220 volt AC, 50 Hz single phase (European requirement) motor controlled by a double pole, double throw trigger switch. A heavy duty cord with a 10 foot minimum length, and a 3 prong grounding type plug shall be provided.
2.3 Codes and standards. The meat cutting hand saw shall comply with Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) Std. No. 763.
