COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

DISPENSERS, BREAD, SELF-LEVELING, DROP-IN

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to MIL-D-43969.

Salient characteristics.

The bread dispenser shall be completely enclosed and furnished with a removable crumb tray, top supporting flange, and hinged cover. The dispenser shall be of the self-leveling type for drop-in installation in counters. The top slice of bread shall be maintained at constant height from the first slice to the last. The dispenser shall have a capacity of 1-1/2 loaves of sliced pullman bread. The dispenser shall be fabricated from stainless steel except for the spring(s) which may be a commercial grade of chromium vanadium steel. The self-leveling mechanism shall be adjustable without removing it from the dispenser. The maximum outside dimensions of the dispenser shall not exceed: 5-1/22 inches wide by 5-1/2 inches long, 1/2 inch wide, one piece, supporting flange all around the top and 26 inches deep (from flange to bottom of dispensers).

Standard compliance.

The dispenser shall comply with the National Sanitation Foundation No. 2.

2. Certification.

The contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

Recovered materials.

Manufacturer’s are encourage to utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.

Packaging.

A. Packaging. The bread dispensers shall be preserved and packaged in accordance with commercial practice.

B. Packing. Packing shall be in accordance with commercial packing complying with Uniform Freight Classification or National Motor Freight Classification, as applicable.
