COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

DISPENSER, CONDIMENT, LEVER TYPE PUMP, MANUALLY OPERATED

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to type III of Military Specification MIL-D-43840.

Salient characteristics

The condiment dispenser assembly shall consist of a hand operated lever type pump and a 4-1/8 quart stainless steel inset. The pump shall be mounted on a lid that fits properly over the inset so that the condiment is fully enclosed. The dispensing nozzle shall extend beyond the outside surface of the inset and dispense product downward when the lever is pushed down. The lever type dispensing pump and .inset shall be made of stainless steel. The dispenser shall be capable of being easily disassembled for cleaning without the use of tools. The dispenser shall also be adjustable without the use of tools to dispense portions as follows: Smallest – 1/4 fluid ounce to 1/2 fluid ounce per stroke of the pump. Largest – 1 fluid ounce minimum per stroke of the pump. The dispensing pump shall be operate without the use of excessive force and without evidence of binding. The inset shall be formed with a shoulder to support it on the table top. The diameter of the inset below the shoulder shall be such as to fit a 6-1/2 inch diameter opening. The condiment dispenser assembly shall conform to National Sanitation Foundation Basic Criteria C-2. The condiment dispenser shall be plainly and permanently marked with the contract number, national stock number, manufacturer’s name, trade name or trademark of such character that the source of manufacture may be determined.

Certification

The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, and that the product conforms to the producer's own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product sold in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
