COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DISPENSER, CONDIMENTS, COUNTERTOP
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-D-43551.
Salient characteristics.
The condiment dispenser shall consist of a stand and six containers with snug-fitting hinged covers. The stand shall be fabricated or stainless steel enclosed at the top, front, back and ends and shall be fitted with rubber feet. The top surface of the stand shall be slanted from the horizontal 10 to 20 degrees and have six openings of the condiment containers. The overall dimensions of the condiment dispenser shall be 29 inches long by 8 inches wide by 7-1/2 inches high. The containers shall be fabricated of stainless steel and have a quart capacity. The hinged cover shall be transparent plastic equipped with a stainless steel or chrome-plated knob fastened in the center. Opposite the hinge, a slot shall be cut out on the edge for inserting a spoon or fork.
Standard compliance. The dispenser shall conform to National Sanitation Foundation Standard No. 2.
Identification. The condiment dispenser shall be plainly and permanently marked with the control number, manufacturer’s name, trade name, or trade mark of such a character that the source of manufacturer can be determined.
Packaging.
Commercial packaging. Each dispenser shall be packaged in a fiberboard box in accordance with commercial practice.
Commercial packing. Dispensers shall be packed in a manner to insure carrier acceptance and safe delivery at destination at the lowest transportation rate for such supplies. Containers shall comply with the Uniform Freight Classification or National Motor Freight Classification as applicable, except that the closure of fiberboard boxes shall be in accordance with method II as specified in the appendix of PPP-B-636.
Export packaging. The six containers, with inverted covers, shall be placed within the body of the dispenser. The covers shall be secured to prevent movement while in transit. The dispenser shall be protected from physical damage. Each dispenser shall then be packaged in a fiberboard box conforming to style RSC, type CF (variety SW), class domestic of PPP-B-636. Each box shall be closed in accordance with method II as specified in the appendix of PPP-B-636.
