The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This commercial item description covers self-contained household compact refrigerators with electric-motor-driven condensing units.

The method of computing total refrigerated volume and total shelf area of compact refrigerators shall be as specified in ANSI/AHAM HRF-1.
The compact refrigerators shall operate on a 115 volt, 60 Hz, A.C. electrical system. A three-wire cord with a three-prong attachment plug shall provide grounding of the refrigerators and shall extend at least 5 feet but not more than 9 feet beyond the point at which it is attached to the back of the cabinet.
When 50 Hz operation is specified, the refrigerator must be wired for 220 volts 50 Hz use and will not utilize an internally or externally mounted transformer. A UL approved 3-wire electrical cable intended for power supply cord use shall be provided.
The refrigerators shall be capable of producing average cabinet air temperatures in the general food storage compartment of 36o (F) in an ambient of 70o (F), 38o (F) in an ambient of 90o (F) and 43o (F) in an ambient temperatures listed above, the average package temperatures in the low temperature food compartment shall be lower than 32oF. The performance test procedures shall be as specified in ANSI/AHAM HRF-1.
The average energy consumption per cycle, type and net refrigerated volume shall be tested in accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 42, No. 178, Wednesday, September 14, 1977.
