4.3.1 Export packing. Each rack with its packaged parts shall be packed flat on its side in a crate conforming to type IV, style A of MIL-C-52950. The contents shall be anchored and each crate shall be closed and strapped in accordance with MIL-STD-147.
4.3.2 Palletization. When specified, (see 5.2), shipping containers shall be palletized in accordance with MIL-STD-147
4.4 Marking (commercial and export). Marking of unit pack, shipping containers and unit load shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129, or ASTM D 3951, as applicable.
5. NOTES
5.1 Intended use. This commercial item description covers milk racks and egg racks designated to transport milk containers and eggs in cartons, respectively, from loading or storage areas to merchandiser type display cases, where they will be on display for customer self service.
5.2 Ordering data. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
a. Title, number, and date of this document.
b. Type and class required (see 1.1).
c. The Government approved manual number to be included on the data name plate when manuals are purchased under the contract (see 2.2).
d. Selection of applicable levels of packaging and packing required (see 4.1).
e. When palletization is required (see 4.3.2).
