4.3 Export packaging and packing.
4.3.1 Export packaging. Each saw shall be cleaned, preserved and cushioned to protect against corrosion, deterioration and physical damage during shipping and storage. Each saw shall then be placed in a fiberboard box conforming to PPP-B-636, type CF, class weather-resistant. Each box shall be closed and waterproofed in accordance with PPP-B-636.
4.3.2 Export packing. Four saws, packaged as specified in 4.3.1, shall be packed in a wood-cleated plywood box conforming to PPP-B-601, type domestic, style optional, or a wood-cleated fiberboard box conforming to PPP-B-591, class II. Each box shall be closed and strapped in accordance with PPP-B-601 or PPP-B-591, as applicable.
4.3.3 Palletization. When specified (see 5.2), shipping containers shall be palletized in accordance with MIL-STD-147.
4.4 Marking (commercial and export). Marking of unit pack, shipping container and unit load shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129 or ASTM D 3951, as applicable.
5. NOTES
5.1 Intended use. The saw covered by this commercial item description intended for use in blocking carcass primal cuts.
5.2 Ordering data. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
a. Title, number and date of this document.
b. Type required (see 1.1).
c. Government approved manual number to be included on the data name plate when manuals are purchased under the contract (see 2.4).
d. Type of packaging and packing required (see 4.1).
e. When palletization of shipping containers is required (see 4.3.3).
