3. PACKAGING
3.1 Packaging and packing. Packaging and packing shall be commercial or export, as specified (see 4.2).
3.2 Commercial packaging and packing. Each bun slicing machine shall be cleaned, preserved, packaged, packed, and unitized in accordance with ASTM D 3951.
3.3 Export packaging and packaging.
3.3.1 Export packaging. Each bun slicing machine shall be cleaned, preserved, and cushioned to protect against corrosion, deterioration, and physical damage during shipping and storage.
3.3.2 Export packing. Each bun slicing machine shall be packed in a nailed and lock-corner wood box conforming to class 2, style optional, type 2 load of PPP-B-621 or a wood-cleated plywood box conforming to overseas type, style optional, type 2 load of PPP-B-601. Each box shall be waterproofed with a sealed case liner conforming to type I, II, or IV, grade optional of MIL-L-10547. Each box shall be closed PPP-B-621 or PPP-B-601, as applicable.
3.4 Marking (commercial and export). Marking of unit packs and shipping containers shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129 or ASTM D 3951, as applicable.
4. NOTES
4.1 Intended use. The handfed, counter mounted electrically powered bun slicing machines are intended for use in garrison areas to slice rolls and buns.
4.2 Ordering data. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
a. Title, number, and date of this document.
b. Government approved manual number to be included on the data name plate when manuals are purchased under the contract (see 1.4).
c. Selection of applicable packaging and packing required (see 3.1).
4.3 Sources of documents.
