2.2.3 Conveyor. The conveyor speed shall be a minimum of 50 feet per minute. The distance between conveyor roller centers shall be 10 feet. Removable 5 inch minimum high stainless steel side panels shall be provided. A large stainless steel hopper on the loading end (lower) shall be provided. The hopper shall not be less than 27-l/2 inches high from the floor. The conveyor shall be equipped with a stainless steel lower pulley cover and a stainless steel panel under the conveyor belt.
2.2.4 Belt. The conveyor belt shall be a minimum of 13 inches wide, white, USDA approved construction, cleated, capable of being removed without tools, loosened and aligned by lever.
2.2.5 Motor. Unless otherwise specified (see 5.2), the conveyor motor shall be a minimum horsepower, totally enclosed, fan cooled, and shall operate on a nominal 208 volt, 60 Hertz, 3 phase power source. The motor starter shall be of the manual type mounted in a watertight enclosure accessible to the operator.
2.2.6 Cord and plug. The conveyor shall be equipped with a 6 foot minimum length heavy duty flexible power supply cord with a twist lock grounding type plug conforming to configuration L 15-20 for use with a water tight connector or receptacle.
2.3 Codes and standards. The types I and II belt conveyors shall conform to Underwriters Laboratories (UL) No. 763.
2.4 Data name plate (Government unique requirement see 5.4). The conveyor shall be furnished with a data name plate in accordance with the applicable requirements of MIL-STD-130 except the requirements for: (a) Methods of applying; (b) Identification tags; (c) Information not required and (d) Optional marking information shall not apply. The data plate shall be made of minimum 20 gauge corrosion-resisting metal and attached to the conveyor by rivets, screws, or welding in such a manner as to meet the applicable National Sanitation Foundation sanitary requirements for this equipment. The plate shall contain the following information which shall be stamped, engraved or applied by photosensitive means:
National Stock Number
Procurement Contract Number
Specification Data
Manufacturer’s Name, Address and Telephone Number
Supplier’s Name, Address and Telephone Number (List only if different from
Manufacturer)
Manufacturer’s Model Number
Government Approved Manual Number (when specified, see 5.2)
Each plate shall be placed so that it is readily visible to the operator during normal operating use and so as to not adversely affect the life and utility of the conveyor.
