COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DISPENSER, ICE, AUTOMATIC DISPENSING HEAD, MOBILE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to type II, size I and size II of MIL-D-43593.
1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
1.1 Design and construction. The ice dispenser shall be designed to store approximately 200 pounds of ice in cube, cubelet, cracked, flaked, or shaved form. The ice dispenser shall be a manual loading and automatic dispensing model. The dispenser shall be equipped with a tower, auger, ice agitator, push handle, bumper guard, drain, removable drain pan, and removable lid. The dispenser shall be mounted on four casters, two of which shall have a braking mechanism. The dispensing storage cabinet, tower, auger, ice agitator, and push handle shall be constructed of stainless steel. The space between the double walled bottom and sides of the cabinet shall be filled with insulation or shall be of the air insulation type. The lid shall be constructed of either stainless steel or plastic and be a double hinged door or a single structured piece. The lid shall be double walled and shall be filled with insulation or shall be of the air insulation type. The insulation shall be fiberglass, expanded polystyrene, or fluorocarbon expanded polyurethane preformed or foamed-in-place. The cabinet shall be water tight and shall have a drain with a petcock or shut off valve and shall be provided with a minimum 1/2 inch IPS drain opening with valve or plug. The bumper guards shall be vinyl and be installed around the outer perimeter of the dispensing cabinet (panel). The maximum dimensions of the ice dispenser shall be 45 inches long by 30 inches wide by 60 inches high.
1.2 Dispensing tower. The dispensing tower shall be located over the dispensing storage cabinet. The tower shall be equipped with an ice dispensing outlet and a pressure activated switch for automatic dispensing. The tower shall have a drain trough beneath the automatic ice dispensing outlet. The tower shall be easy to remove or dismantle for cleaning and servicing purposes.
1.3 Tray rail. When specified (see 4.2), the dispenser shall have a drop type tray rail mounted the full length of the ice dispensing side of the cabinet. The tray rail shall be constructed of stainless steel and shall be adjustable from 34 to 36 inches from the floor.
