1.4 Components. The necessary components (auger, ice agitator, controls, and motor) shall be furnished to provide for a smooth operation in the dispensing of ice.
1.5 Electrical. The ice dispenser shall be capable of operating on 115 volts, 60 hertz, single phase on 208/230 volts, 60 hertz, single phase a.c. Controls shall be designed for operating on either a nominal 115 volt or 208/230 volt power source. The transformer when supplied shall not be used to step up or step down the voltage for end item use and shall not be used where specifically prohibited, but may be used as a part of the control system. When a 50 hertz frequency is specified and the end item is to be operated on that frequency, all systems shall be rated at that frequency. Controls rated at 115 volt, 60 hertz, 1-phase, may be used with a 50 hertz power source, provided that the power can be obtained from a hot line and neutral, or through a transformer. Relay transformers; or any other component housing for a complete control system shall be transferred as an integral part of the end item. Motors shall conform to NEMA MG1. Cords and outlets shall conform to UL 471.
1.6 Standards compliance. The dispenser shall comply with Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. Standard No. 73 and National Sanitation Foundation Standard No. 12.
1.7 Identification plate. In addition to the marking requirements of UL 471, the identification plate shall include the manufacturer’s model, and name, address, and telephone number and serial, contract number, and national stock number.
2. QUALITY ASSURANCE
2.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same as the product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
3. PACKAGING
3.1 Packaging and packing. Packaging and packing shall be commercial or export, as specified.
3.2 Commercial packaging and packing. Each dispenser shall be cleaned, preserved, packaged, and unitized in accordance with ASTM 3951.
