4. PACKAGING
4.1 Packaging and packing. Packaging and packing
shall be commercial or export as specified (see 5.2).
4.2 Commercial packaging and packing. Each table shall be cleaned, preserved, packaged, packed and unitized in accordance with ASTM D 3951.
4.3 Export packaging and packing.
4.3.1 Export packaging. Each table shall be disassembled to the extent determined by the manufactured to protect parts susceptible to damage during shipment and storage for the reduction of cubage. Disassembly shall be such that special skills or special tools, other than those furnished, are not required to place the table in use. Disassembled parts shall be identified. The table and disassembled parts shall be preserved and cushioned to provide adequate protection against corrosion, deterioration, and damage during shipping and storage. Disassembled and detached parts shall be packaged in a snug-fitting fiberboard box conforming to style optional, grade V3c, V3s, or V4s, of ASTM D 5118. Each box shall be closed in accordance with ASTM D 1974.
4.3.2 Export packing. Each table (together with detached components) shall be packed in a shipping container shall be cushioned, blocked, and braced to prevent damage. Closure and strapping shall be in accordance with PPP-B-601.
4.4 Marking (commercial and export). Interior boxes and shipping containers shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129, or ASTM D 3951, as applicable.
5. NOTES
5.1 Intended use. Type I tables are intended for use in the preparation of food in commissary stores. Type II tables are primarily intended for meat boning and trimming.
